Unix Engineer

    We are searching for a talented Unix Engineer to undertake an initial 6 month engagement within a large global systems integrator.  This is you opportunity to undertake a contract within a large enterprise project.

    The day to day responsibilities of this role are:

    • System Administration of Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5/6/7/8 and Centos 5/6/7) and and AIX 6.1/7.1
    • System Installation and configuration of Red Hat Operating Systems in Physical Environment
    • Ansible server management.
    • Managing HP, Dell and Cisco Hardware’s and applying BIOS upgrades.
    • Automating day to day activities using Ansible playbooks
    • Redhat & Centos 6/7 Server patching through Ansible playbooks
    • Writing bash shell script to automate the day to day activities
    • Server hardening
    • Server performance monitoring and troubleshooting
    • Managing power path devices in Red Hat servers and AIX servers
    • LUN addition and File system management in Red Hat and AIX servers.
    • Multipath issue troubleshooting
    • Managing BCV environments for AIX servers
    • Configuring Oracle ASM disks
    • Creating File system and configure to available network through NFS and Autofs configuration.
    • Disk management using standard partition type and Logical Volume Management.
    • Analyzing security vulnerabilities and applying fixes for Red Hat servers
    • Installing Linux Kernel and Non-kernel Patches
    • Puppet Management (Master/Slave setup)
    • Performed routine task such as adding, modifying and deleting user accounts in command line, checking log files and monitoring system process on Linux Servers.
    • Providing the security to the system by controlling remote access, ftp users, and setting file permissions and ACL’s to the files and directories.
    • Configuring Secure SSH using key based authentication for remote login administration purpose.
    • Install, configure and managing the Samba server integrated with Windows AD for authentication and editing configuration file according to client's requirements.
    • FTP Server Administration.
    • Configuring NFS servers and managing clients
    • Configuring yum for installing and updating packages
    • RPM package installation and configuration
    • Managing DNS servers and troubleshooting.
    • Scheduled backup and daily server’s health checkup using shell scripting.
    • Scheduling jobs using cron and at schedulers.
    • Using Squid Proxy server integrated with squid Guard to restrict the internet access as per client requirements for reduce loading of internet access.
    • Generating squid proxy reports on monthly basis and sharing to the customer.
    • Nagios monitoring tool configuration and Administration
    • CUPS Printer management in Red Hat servers
    • Support activities in HP Proliant servers and IBM power hardware
    • Working Knowledge on HMC and HP ILO consoles
    • Working with vendors on hardware failures
    • Zabbix monitoring tool management
    • Creation and migration of Linux virtual machines in VMware

    The tools and experience that will place you in a position for success are:

    Due to the nature of the client there will be a requirement for you to undergo and successfully pass National Police Checks and various background checks.
